John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people through his songs of pop-folk and many of them inspired by Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado are a source of inspiration for many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular performers who embodies Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. He is the face of Colorado for a lot of people across the globe. When you encounter people from other countries, like New Zealanders, and they tell them "I come from Colorado" and they respond with Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff composed the tune to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single when he first heard it. The singer recorded the song only a few days afterward when he performed it in front of crowds of enthusiastic fans at Washington D.C.
